My Great Grandfather was Lillius Aiden Lynch, b.1862, my lineage continuing back through Lewis W. Lynch, Gray Lynch, and to William Lynch. I do not have much information at this time on Joseph, but I have been trying to find out which wife of William's son Gray, born 1788. He had a brother named Joseph, b 1808. There is a book available through LDS, entitled "Our Lynch Line". It had many of the same articles as "Lynch Families of the Southern States". Please let me know if you know the Mother of Gray, and the order of marriages. Thanks MJS

Gray was my GGGgrandfather, as his son Lewis was my GGgrandfather. Lewis was one of Aden's younger brothers, and stayed in Bell Buckle, TN. I show Adin(Aden) born Sep 26, 1813, died Feb 1, 1891. Married a Susan (last name not sure) and a Mary Martin. Aden moved to Mississippi, then to Arkansas. I have more details, but would like to compare with what you have. You may email me at lightup2@bellsouth.net

Joseph would have been my 3rd Great Grand Uncle. My 3rd great grandfather was Adin Lynch, Joseph's brother. The book "Lynch Families of the Southern States" is a book published in 1966 that lists a great deal of information on Lynch families in the South (obviously). It was compiled by a Lois Hines who was researching her family (Joseph Penn Lynch). There is a lot of info on Lynch's from Kentucky, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Virgina. There is varying information on Lynch's from most of the other Southern states as well. And a little bit on the Lynch's of Ireland and England. The only info I have on Joseph Lynch is that he was born in 1808 in Brunswick County, VA, Married in 1843, moved to Ohio somewhere between 1843 and 1846, and died in Ohio sometime after 1850. Mr. Bill Lynch of Georgia has been tremendously helpful in helping me learn about my family. I'd be remiss if I didn't mention him....The text of William Lynch's will is in the book (not a photo copy of it however). William Lynch, father of 34 children

In doing some preliminary ressearch on this family (the Lynch family) I believe we probably decend from this William. Have not yet been able to attach him to our family tree but wanted to document some of the information I have located on the net. This particular post was done by
www.lynchtree.com/index.htm#CNTC
and lists the will of William showing most, if not all, o f his children.

Notes for William Lynch
Will probated in August Term of Court, 1837. The site of his grave is unknown. Many of William's childern names plus their wife's names verified through Carl D. Lynch's research and Cecil C. Pryor book " Our Lynch Line ". Both contain excellant information on William's descendants. I tried to place Williams childern with proper mother by deductive reasoning using birth, death and marriage dates. I am sure there are errors. The correct mother-child relationship will probably remain unsolved forever.

I do think he was reconized because he furnished supplies to help feed the troops. The Library of Virginia has on file a receipt where William sold beef to the cause on October 29, 1781. The Daughters of the American Revolution in the past compiled a list of 644 people they named "Revolutionary Patriots of Brunswick County, Virginia". William is named in the list. There is also a James Lynch named. I think he was probably William's brother

There is a possibility that Eliza last name was Grief

Virginia State Archive states her and William's marriage license issued Oct. 25, 1802

She was blind and living in son Warren's home when 1860 census was taken.
